How To Play Spades Card Game
Spades card game is played normally between four players. Two players sitting opposite to each other form partnership. A standard 52 deck cards is used. The dealer is chosen either randomly or by dealing single card to each player. The player holding the high card or the low card may deal first. The cards are distributed in left direction to each player. Each player gets equal set of 13 cards.
After all the cards are distributed, each player must make a bid as how many tricks they may make during this round of one game. As each player hold, 13 card not more than 13 tricks can be bid per game. The first player bids the number of tricks (minimum zero to maximum 13). Each partner’s bid is added together and need to make combined equal or more number tricks in one game. Let say one partner’s bid is two while other has bid is three. Combine tricks of both the partners should be five or more in order to score or win the entire tournament.
If the team makes more number or tricks then their bid gets bonus and if they make less than they are penalized. If the team bid NIL bids and does not make any bid, they get the bonus points as decided in the game by all the players.
Scoring of the tricks after end of each game may depend on the number of points decided per trick. Universally it is ten points per trick (positive or negative). Let say if the bid decided by both the partners is three and they were able to make five tricks then they would get 10 positive point for each tricks they bid on and additionally one point per additional trick. In this example, the team would earn 30 + 2 = 32 points. The same goes for negative scoring but it is a bit harsher. Let say if the team bids four and they are only able to make three tricks in one game then the negative score the team would earn would be negative 40 instead of negative 10. (Negative 10 points per trick bid). If the team bids NIL then they may end up getting entire 130 positive points (as per the decision made during start of the game). The team who scores early 500 (or more depends on the initial benchmark that has been decided) is the winner.
